Daria Klemick studied for her bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a double minor in Bioethics and Sociology at Fordham University in Bronx, New York. During her time there, she made dean’s list all four years and was also the recipient of the Fordham Jogues Scholarship. Daria Klemick's leadership roles on campus included serving as as president of the university's chapter of Project Sunshine. Project Sunshine is a nonprofit organization that works to bring joy to pediatric patients in hospitals across the nation. As the president of her university's chapter of the organization, Ms. Klemick spent her time organizing events to make care packages for pediatric patients, arranging volunteer dates in the pediatric department at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York for club members to attend, and also volunteering herself. Always passionate about helping her community, Ms. Klemick also spent time volunteering in the Dental Department at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, right down the street from Fordham University.
Ms. Klemick developed an interest in dentistry while attending "The Private Practice Experience in Dentistry" in East Islip, New York, the summer after her freshman year. "The Private Practice Experience in Dentistry" is a comprehensive program run by Dr. Forlano and his team that is designed to give pre-dental students the opportunity to learn about all aspects of working in dentistry. While attending the program, Ms. Klemick participated in hands-on exercises, such as cavity preparations and suturing, learned from different lecturers, and practiced using innovative technologies, like the Solea laser, used commonly in dentistry today. After deciding to pursue dentistry for her career, Ms. Klemick spent many hours shadowing Dr. Dean Chencharik at The Art of Dentistry in Somerset, New Jersey, Dr. Barbara Fodero at Chatham Orthodontics in Chatham, New Jersey, Dr. Christina Carter at Carter Smile in Morristown, New Jersey, and Dr. Bartlett and Dr. Hinic at Summit Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Summit, New Jersey. Ms. Klemick later accepted an internship at Summit Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, where she continued to learn about oral health and worked to set up surgical kits, sterilize surgical instruments, and assist during operative procedures as directed.
Before beginning on her path to a career in dentistry, Ms. Klemick taught dance at the Roma Pryma Bohachevsky Ukrainian Dance Camp in Kerhonkson, New York, for many summers. Currently, Ms. Klemick is a parishioner at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church, in Newark, New Jersey. In her leisure time, she enjoys visiting the Ukrainian Museum in New York City, practicing Ukrainian embroidery, and attending ballets such as Firebird and The Nutcracker at The New York City Ballet in Lincoln Center.
